Lionsgate, the studio behind popular films series’ like The Hunger Games and John Wick, recently announced it’s letting a startup mine its catalog works with the goal of creating an AI model capable of creating storyboards and other pre- and post-production work.

The studio behind the “John Wick,” “Hunger Games,” and “Twilight” franchises just made a deal with an artificial intelligence startup to use its back catalog to build a custom AI model. It could be a tipping point.

The two companies are working together to develop a custom AI model trained on Lionsgate's content library. Some say the deal is bad news for human artists, others say it’s a natural next step for the industry.
